Ernesto de la Cruz took center stage at the Honda Center during the D23 Disney Experiences Showcase to make the announcement. Chairman Josh D’Amaro confirmed the all-new “Coco” attraction, the first-ever “Coco” ride, is in development for Disney California Adventure. The concept art indicates it will be a boat ride.

Guests will join Miguel on a trip into the Land of the Dead. The large cast will include characters from the Pixar film. Of course, it will also feature the movie’s iconic music.

Walt Disney Imagineering plans to infuse this attraction with inspiration from iconic rides like Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.

“We’re bringing our skeletal cast of characters to life in a big way with the latest Audio-Animatronics technology,” D’Amaro said. “These figures will appear in ways that you’ll have to experience to believe.”

D’Amaro did not announce an exact location for the ride. Construction is expected to begin in 2026. Until then, guests can see Miguel and his family in Mickey’s PhilharMagic.
