The latest Disney Destiny announcements have arrived from Disney Cruise Line, revealing that the ship’s Grand Hall will be inspired by Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” films.

‘Black Panther’ Grand Hall Aboard Disney Destiny

Luxurious, grand interior space with multiple levels, ornate railings, a large chandelier, and a central statue reminiscent of Disney magic. A sweeping staircase connects the floors, with elegant furnishings throughout.

The Grand Hall of the Disney Destiny will take inspiration from the “rich lore, distinctive iconography, and vibrant palette” of Marvel Studios’ two “Black Panther” films. The Grand Hall will be the first space guests enter when boarding the ship.

The design team for Walt Disney Imagineering consulted with the costume team from the “Black Panther” films to help build the creative vision for the space. This influence can be seen in the metalwork on the pilars, which are inspired by the banded armor and stacked jewelry found in Wakanda.

The Grand Hall’s light fixture is inspired by Vibranium, the rare metallic ore found in Wakanda. As with other Wish-class ships, it will feature special effects that fill the Grand Hall with light and color.

Of course, it’s not a Grand Hall without a statue, and the Disney Destiny will be home to a sculpture of T’Challa, the Black Panther and King of Wakanda. The statue will be located in the same spot as all others before it, presiding over the Grand Hall and the guests who pass through it.

August 1, 2024 concludes the three days of non-stop announcements for the Disney Destiny. Other reveals for the new Wish-class ship include a “The Lion King” dinner show, an Edna Mode sweets shop, cafes themed to Merida from “Brave” and Megara from “Hercules,” a Cruella de Vil lounge, a Pirates of the Caribbean lounge, another Haunted Mansion Parlor, and a new AquaMouse story featuring Disney villains.

The Disney Destiny will make its home port at the new Disney Cruise Line location at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. This week, we also got our first look at inside, oceanview, and verandah staterooms aboard the ship. Disney Cruise Line also released concept art for the Royal Suites and concierge staterooms.
