According to Scott Gustin on X, Disney has confirmed the Red Car Trolley will close in 2025 to allow construction to begin on the Avengers Campus expansion, which necessitates the removal of the Red Car Trolley barn.

An expansive view of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, featuring various attractions, buildings, and a spaceship-like vehicle with a futuristic design captures the essence of Marvel's universe seamlessly.

The above concept art shows the expanded Avengers Campus footprint, allowing for the upcoming fourth ride, Stark Flight Lab. The third attraction, Avengers: Infinity Defense, is also under construction. The addition of both rides is expected to double the size of Avengers Campus. No other closures to accommodate the expansion have been confirmed at this time

The expansion was announced at D23 earlier this month.

The Red Car Trolley opened in July 2012 with the full reimagining of Disneyland Resort’s second gate. It’s an iconic part of Buena Vista Street and the park in general. A closing date has not been announced.

  1. I call this bs… first Disney have not said it, so not true until then. Secondly, if you watch their animation where they show off the land expanding, you can see that the barn, which is behind the current Avengers building is still in place there, based on the angles they have for the buildings expansion.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see the building moved, but I doubt its going away fully

  2. Scott did *not* say that the closure was permanent. In a follow-up tweet, he mentioned that he asked Disney if the Red Car will be returning at a later date, and their response was that they will be sharing more info in the future.

But sure, go ahead and say “permanently” to support your clickbait journalism if it makes you happy.
