Disney has announced that the D23 Legends Awards Ceremony will be available to watch exclusively on Disney+ starting on Monday, August 12 at 5PM ET/2PM PT in the US and Canada.
D23 Legends Awards Ceremony on Disney+
In a post on X, it was revealed that the broadcast would not be airing live, instead debuting almost 24 hours after the ceremony will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim California on August 11. This is the first and so far only of Disney’s main stage presentations at the Honda Center to be made available for viewing to the general public.
This bi-annual ceremony honors key figures in the History of the Walt Disney company. This year’s honorees include Indiana Jones/Han Solo actor Harrison Ford, Visionary director James Cameron, World famous film composer John Williams, Legendary Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, and Pop star/Disney Channel Icon Miley Cyrus, among others. Ryan Seacrest will serve as host.
This announcement comes after much confusion regarding what Disney’s plans would be with livestreaming other other events at the Honda Center this year. The Disney Experiences Showcase (colloquially known as the Disney Parks Panel) was initially believed to be streaming exclusively in the popular video game “Fortnite” until later being revealed that only announcements specific to “Fortnite” and it’s studio “Epic Games” would be included in the event.
D23 the Ultimate Disney Fan Event is happening right now at the Anaheim Convention Center. Plenty more announcements and breaking news will be revealed over the coming days, so stay tuned!
