Disney updated the available attractions list to exclude MuppetVision 3D from Extended Evening Hours, available to qualifying resort hotel guests, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Starting on select nights beginning Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will stay open for Extended Evening Hours from 9pm to 11pm for qualifying resort guests. Magic Kingdom has started hard-ticket events such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party so they are not partaking in the program for the next several weeks.
Last week we reported that the Extended Evening Hours were returning to Hollywood Studios, and MuppetVision 3D was still on the attractions list. However, as of today, it has been removed. This is notable given the persistent rumor of where the Monsters, Inc. land may be located in Hollywood Studios.
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced their first-ever Monsters, Inc. land including their first-ever suspended roller-coaster. Many are worried about the future of MuppetVision 3D but multiple sources report that the land will replace the Animation building, which currently houses Star Wars Launch Bay.
We have no reason to believe that the removal of MuppetVision 3D from Extended Evening Hours has anything to do with the future Monsters, Inc. Land as MuppetVision 3D does remain open for normal operating hours through October 2024 (which is as far as the calendar goes as of publication). However, it is strange that Disney has remained quiet on the location of the project and now this change has been made.
Of course, Extended Evening Hours are usually a chance to experience attractions that typically have long wait times with a much shorter queue. MuppetVision 3D is seldom a long wait time for guests, so there just simply may be no good reason to operate it during this event.
