Two new Disney’s Animal Kingdom cupcakes have arrived — one featuring Simba from “The Lion King” and another featuring a zebra.
New Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cupcakes
Location
Both cupcakes are sold at Zuri’s Sweets Shop, across from Harambe Market and next to Ziwani Traders. It’s usually open from park open until park close and serves a variety of baked goods and confections.
Simba Lemon Blueberry Cupcake – $6.29
Lemon-flavored Cupcake with Blueberry Filling topped with Orange and Yellow Buttercream Frosting and a Chocolatey Simba piece
The cake itself is very moist and lemony. The blueberry filling was subtle but suitable to cut the tartness of the lemon. As usual with Disney cupcakes, there was way too much buttercream frosting, but it’s easy enough to scrape off if you don’t want it all. It’s also adorable. We wouldn’t go out of our way to have this again, but if you’re in the area and looking for something sweet or citrusy, it’s worth having.

Zebra Cupcake – $6.29
Vanilla and Chocolate Striped Cupcake topped with Green Buttercream Frosting and a White Chocolatey Zebra piece
As cute as this was, the cake was very dry and tasteless. The stripes on the inside were a nice touch, but nothing (and especially not the overly sweet frosting) could save this.

Overall Recommendations
Overall, if you’re going to choose one of the new cupcakes, we recommend the Simba Lemon Blueberry Cupcake. If you’re looking for something a little more robust, we recommend going over to Harambe Market for the Harambe Salad with Chicken and Mango Passion Fruit Cheesecake.
