PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom (Pins, Fort Wilderness, & More) 9/3/2024

Happy Pin Tuesday! Today was another wonderful day in the Magic Kingdom ending with a relaxing walk through the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds.

Magic Kingdom

A group of people stand in line at the Magic Kingdom Monorail entrance under a clear blue sky, with boarding signs and pathways visible in the foreground, ready to start their Fort Wilderness adventure.

Good morning from the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC)! Now, I have a confession: I lied. When I said I opt for boat transportation, I really meant when it isn’t before the park opens and you are on a mission, so I continue to the Magic Kingdom Express Monorail with a clear conscience. This center-beamed modern marvel takes you directly to the Magic Kingdom, and I need to get to Uptown before all the resellers and collectors get to the newest Dooney & Bourke bags!

Dooney & Bourke

Two cartoon-themed bags on a marble counter. The larger tote flaunts animated characters and alphabet blocks, while the smaller crossbody bag showcases cartoon dogs in various poses. In the background, you can spot various other bags along with a pristine collection of pins from Magic Kingdom.

Mission complete. In Uptown Jewelers on Main Street, I spotted this cute tote and small sling purse by Dooney & Bourke featuring (goes without saying) The Three Caballeros, Donald Duck, Panchito, and José.

Pin Tuesday!

A photo showing six different Disney-themed collectible pins displayed on their backing cards, featuring characters from Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel franchises, as if they've just been discovered at Fort Wilderness in the Magic Kingdom.

Pro tip for any pin collector or traders in your family, in the parks Disney releases new pins every Tuesday. Now, typically this is just for Limited Release or Limited Edition pins, but some Open Edition pins do debut on Tuesdays too.

Today, I spotted some new Disney Princess pins, a new Walt Disney Pin, and my favorite Limited Release pin was, of course, the whole reason for coming to Magic Kingdom in the first place — those Three Caballeros.

You can check out our socials to see more of the new pins I found!

Adventureland Pavement

Two people walk on a sunlit pedestrian pathway, surrounded by buildings with outdoor seating and trees casting shadows, reminiscent of the serene ambiance you'd find at Fort Wilderness near Magic Kingdom.

More themed pavement in Adventureland has spread, but scoring on the concrete suggests more to come. Keep your eyes on our website for more details on how this pavement develops throughout Adventureland.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – a Little Golden Book

A hand holding a "Tiana's Bayou Adventure" book in front of a vibrant, green Magic Kingdom theme park setting with a blue sky in the background, perfect for your latest photo report.

I grew up on many a Little Golden Book, and I would have LOVED seeing all these Disney World attractions featured now in my adult life. I did buy the Figment Golden Book when it was released in EPCOT.

Earlier this year, we reported that there would be a presale for a Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Golden Book. Today, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” was released, and I couldn’t help but buy one from the Critter Co-op, enjoy my latte, and read Tiana’s story just outside the attraction. I know, it’s a tough gig here.

Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe

Left: Exterior of a cream-colored shop named "Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe" with holiday decorations, reminiscent of Fort Wilderness. Right: Interior of the shop showing wooden floors, shelves with merchandise, and several people browsing. Perfect for a Magic Kingdom photo report capturing festive charm.

On my last visit, half of the Christmas Shoppe was closed for what I was told was a floor refurbishment. Nothing too dramatic to report since the walls have come down. The other half of the Shoppe is now closed.

A collage of six Disney-themed Christmas ornaments showcasing various characters including Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, Rapunzel, and Peter Pan. Each ornament is held in hand against a store display background at Magic Kingdom. Perfect for your next PHOTO REPORT from Fort Wilderness!

Inside the Christmas Shoppe, I did spot some new ornaments. My favorite was the Stitch ornament, but the Great Mouse Detective ornament was very cool to see too. Which of these new ornaments is your favorite?

Caricature Frankenstein

Two framed caricature portraits sit on an outdoor table between two black wrought-iron chairs, with a textured stone wall and window in the background, capturing a moment that feels like stepping into the Magic Kingdom.

I always enjoy seeing what caricature the artists are working on, especially in Magic Kingdom. Frankenstein caught my eye, but if I’m not mistaken, those other two faces look very familiar, perhaps… possibly… maybe they could be the artists themselves.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

PHOTO REPORT: People stand near a building with a sign that reads "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique" offering walk-up opportunities. In the background, the majestic castle of Magic Kingdom rises under a clear blue sky.

Made my way into Fantasyland to see walk-up opportunities were available today, which is a good indicator that the crowd levels are down. Unfortunately, I am too old to play princess, so I opted for my weekly “pixie dusting” at Sir Mickey’s. I should explain “pixie dusting” — that’s when you visit a Cast Member and they use a fairy wand to sprinkle you with Pixie Dust.

A King is Missing!!!

Stone building exterior with two arched doorways, captured in a photo report from Fort Wilderness. The left archway contains shelves with various items, under a decorative metal grate. The right archway shows a wall with hanging tools and more items.

I know, what the heck are you looking at? …Bear with me. A statue of Triton used to stand here, but as of today, Triton has been missing for 322 days, not that I’m counting. You may notice that the light fixture that was above Triton is also missing.

Sonny Eclipse

A crowded indoor food court with many people sitting at tables, eating and chatting. The area is well-lit with large windows and a central counter with a sign that reads "Tomorrowland Terrace," reminiscent of the vibrant atmosphere you’d find at Magic Kingdom.

Stopped by Cosmic Ray’s to see Sonny Eclipse playing to a crowded room of fans enjoying snacks. I love the kinetic energy that Sonny’s show offers.

Bus to Fort Campgrounds

A directional sign at a transportation hub, part of a detailed photo report, indicates stops for Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Disney's Wilderness Lodge, with the number 10 displayed above.

After a quick snack and some entertainment, I left Magic Kingdom to go check out what collectible medallions Fort Wilderness Campgrounds had at the Meadows Trading Post. I skipped the boat ride again for a bus to try to beat out an afternoon storm, which (spoiler) didn’t happen, but the past few days have definitely had me paranoid.

Collectible Medallions

A wooden collectible medallion machine emblazoned with the Fort Wilderness logo stands inside a store next to a glass door. Assorted merchandise, including T-shirts, colorful suitcases, and themed pins, are visible to the right.

I did spot the collectible medallions. Stay tuned to our website for more details on which medallions I found.

Blue Sky and Sunshine

Trees with moss hanging from branches and a bright blue sky with scattered clouds in the background create a picturesque scene reminiscent of Fort Wilderness. This could easily be part of a photo report capturing the serene beauty near Magic Kingdom.

The best part of the Campgrounds to me is looking up to see the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees — especially on such a bright, puffy cloud-filled blue sky.
