The Disney Parks Blog has shared a first look at construction on the real-life Parr House from “The Incredibles” at Cotino, the first Storyliving by Disney community scheduled to open in 2025.
Parr House at Cotino
The Parr House will be part of the community’s voluntary Artisan Club, hosting events, celebrations, and limited overnight accommodations. The house itself takes inspiration from the mid-century modern home in Pixar’s “The Incredibles 2.”
This gathering place will allow members and their guests to enjoy dedicated spaces for dining, creative pursuits, working out, water recreation on Cotino Bay, and more programming.
The Parr House is a full-circle moment for the film and its inspirations. When the film was in development, Pixar artists visited Palm Springs to help dream up the original design for the family home. Now, a home inspired by the film is being built in that same place.
Walt Disney Imagineering will utilize a rich mix of colors and textures to bring the home to life. The interior will feature hallmarks of mid-century modern design, clean lights, natural light, and functional furniture. There will also be some artistic flair in the finishes, artwork, and decor about the house.
The home will also include a primary bedroom fit for Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, the family kitchen, and an open living room.
Imagineers will also add a few special “film props” to the space to ground it in the story of “The Incredibles,” including boxes of Sugar Bombs and Fiber O’s cereal and the family’s schedule written on the Insuricare calendar.
The color palette of the house will reflect the film’s characters and settings. Communal areas like the living room and kitchen will sport tones of red, black, and yellow to pay homage to the family’s super suits. Upstairs, each of the bedrooms will reflect the style of characters like Edna Mode, Lucius Best aka Frozone, Jack-Jack, Violet, and Dash.
The first-floor art studio will instead celebrate the Cotino community’s overall theme of being a “creative oasis.”
Imagineers enlisted the help of Cotino community homebuilder Davidson Communities to build the Parr House. Together, the design teams plan to adapt some of the home’s iconic features for the real-life structure, like floor-to-ceiling windows and rock work in the living room.
Speaking of those windows, they will offer views of Cotino Bay, which will “feature the clearest turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons technology.”
The home will also have an elevated patio, offering space for outdoor events with water and mountain views.
The Parr House is currently under construction, and is expected to open in 2025. The first model homes for Cotino are nearing completion, as of our August 2024 update.
