Adventureland Pavement Continues with Confusing Stanchion Setup at Magic Kingdom

The Adventureland-themed pavement has expanded filling more space with the new pavement versus the old gray previously seen throughout the land.

On our most recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we noticed that stanchions were back up in Adventureland, indicating that more work had been completed for the themed pavement expansion. The new walkway had only reached past the breezeway connecting Adventureland and Frontierland in our last update.

When we first arrived, we were even a bit confused by the layout of the stanchion ropes, as were other guests. This led to some frustration in navigating what is now a more narrow path.

Disney has roped off this gray section of the `path and has some scores in the concrete in preparation for removal, but there is, in fact, new concrete just behind the ropes on the seam line. If you look carefully at the line between the gray and the reddish-themed pavement, you can see where they have added cracks and new concrete.

That line of new pavement joins into the plot of themed concrete. This newest section is themed just the same as previous sections. It stretches just in front of the Island Supply by Sunglass Hut on the Swiss Family Treehouse side.

We are not entirely sure why this project required two stanchions in this corner, but there were two holding the rope that continued in a straight line. Maybe they just ran out of enough space and required the extra two feet.

Likely the next section to be completed will be in this seating area and near the wooden box in the photo above. Disney has been trying to keep the pathway as open as possible while constructing this themed update.

What do you think of the newest thematic addition to Walt Disney World’s immersive environments? Are you happy with this change or do you think it could present more problems than the aesthetics are worth? Let us know in the comments below and on social media.
