Ken Page, star of the Broadway stage and the voice of Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024. He was 70.

Ken Page, actor on the stage and screen, has passed away at the age of 70. Page is best known to Disney fans as the voice of Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” but also starred in several roles on the Broadway stage.
Page’s passing was announced by friends on social media, including Dorian Hannaway, a longtime friend and producer, per Fox 2 Now. Hannaway shared the news on Facebook, saying,
Ken Page has passed onto the next show. My heart is broken.

According to Extra TV, she later confirmed that he “passed quietly and peacefully at his home.”
Page was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo., and attended Fontbonne College on a full scholarship to major in theater, per Fox 2 Now.
His storied stage credits include the original Broadway casts of “The Wiz,” “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Cats,” and “It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues,” per BroadwayWorld. He also starred in the first Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls with an all-Black cast and in productions of Randy Newman’s “Faust,” Stephen Schwartz’s “Children of Eden,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Les Misérables,” and more.
Disney fans no doubt recognize Page’s iconic voice, as he often reprised his role of Oogie Boogie for entertainment and attractions at the Disney Parks, including “HalloWishes,” “Halloween Screams,” “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular,” and Haunted Mansion Holiday. Page also voiced the villain in video games like the “Kingdom Hearts” franchise.
