The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2024 next month will include the debut of a Minnie Mouse balloon.
Minnie Mouse Balloon Coming to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
The fashion icon will finally get a chance to shine in balloon form in this year’s parade. She will wear her signature red-and-white polka-dot bow and dress with yellow heels. The balloon will be 60 feet tall when fully inflated.
This balloon will join the likes of Mickey Mouse (whose balloon debuted in 1934), Pluto (1934), Donald Duck (1935), and Goofy (1992).
[Macy’s is] super excited about bringing Minnie to life. It has been a Macy’s Studios dream for quite some time, and the folks here on my team who’ve worked on the design, actually bringing that character to life as a balloon in the sky, couldn’t be more excited about it.
[The] opportunity with Minnie for this to be her introduction into the world of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was an easy one
Will Coss, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
In addition to the balloon, a new apparel collection featuring artwork by illustrator and character designer Jeff Shelly will also be coming to Macy’s
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade first debuted in 1924, with animals instead of floats. Minnie Mouse was first introduced in 1928 alongside Mickey Mouse in the short, “Steamboat Willie.”
Minnie will also appear on the new Disney Cruise Line float for this year, “Magic Meets the Seas,” as Captain Minnie Mouse.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
