Behind the Scenes Look at Ichabod Crane ‘Storytelling Window’ in Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney Imagineering shared a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of their first “Storytelling Window,” which brings Ichabod Crane to life in Magic Kingdom.

Ichabod Crane Storytelling Window

Silhouettes of people are seen through the lit window of a brick building at night in Liberty Square, with closed shutters on adjacent windows, evoking an atmosphere reminiscent of Ichabod Crane's tales.

We shared a look at the window soon after its installation above Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe this summer. As described by Imagineers in the video below, Ichabod performs six different scenes on a rotating schedule. Guests can see Ichabod’s silhouette drinking tea, reading a book, and eating a turkey leg.

Though the Storytelling Window is in Liberty Square, the idea came from Main Street’s windows. Imagineers wondered if they could bring stories to life through this visual medium. They performed several tests on Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe before going with Ichabod.
