With Disney confirming that MuppetVision 3D will close to make way for a Monsters Inc.-themed land, The Muppets will have to find a new home… at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Retheme to Muppets & Electric Mayhem Thrill Ride

Animated characters joyfully ride a vibrant, psychedelic car in a colorful, dynamic scene reminiscent of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, with musical instruments and bright lights creating an exhilarating experience.

According to Disney, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be rethemed to welcome The Muppets as they “move right along” to Sunset Boulevard from their current home along Grand Avenue. This will mark the first-ever Disney ride to feature The Muppets.

As featured on the poster, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be teaming up with “some of music’s biggest stars” — Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem — “for a rockin’ music festival.”

The attraction poster itself features Dr. Teeth “driving” a super-stretch limo. A keyboard sits on the dashboard, with colorful swirls, music notes, and flowers decorating the hood. The license plate reads, “MUPP3TS.”

Riding in the car is none other than Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem —Floyd Pepper, Janice, Lips, Animal, and Zoot. Alongside them, however, are Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. It’s possible that other Muppets could be represented in the pre-show or ride experience as well.

No further details for this retheme have been shared, though Disney has said that The Muppets will also take over the Rock Around the Shop merchandise location currently attached to the coaster’s show building.

Disney has said that there will be ample time for guests to catch one last ride on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith before it closes. No closure date has been announced, but more details are expected to be released next year.

  1. I think this is the most dumbest decision Disney could make , muppets! Really the muppets, who barely fill the theater with the silly show , there is nothing about the muppets that says rocking or roller coaster, but Disney is getting something right, running families right down the street to universal studios, so enjoy y’all’s great muppet surge that will last probably all of 3 months 😂👍🏻
