Guests aboard the Disneyland Railroad can now see restored cavern lighting and get a glimpse into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure finale scene through the uncovered windows.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opened in November at Disneyland. It replaced Splash Mountain and led the change from Critter Country to Bayou Country.
Cavern Lighting Restored
After nearly five years, the cavern lighting effect has been restored in the railroad tunnel leading to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. When the former Splash Mountain was in operation, these caverns were lit up in warmer orange, red, and yellow hues. Now, with Tiana moving in, the colors are a deep blue shade, somewhat reminiscent of the bayou.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Finale Scene
The windows that give a peek into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure finale scene are significantly smaller than those that looked into the finale of Splash Mountain. It is difficult to photograph as the train is moving by.
As seen above, the furthest window is blacked out entirely. Given the placement of the fake foliage decal on the still-open windows, the blocked view could have something to do with new lighting equipment and other unwanted backstage views that Imagineers wanted to be hidden from guests.
This side-by-side comparison above shows the view of the finale scenes for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the former Splash Mountain.
In addition, posters that tie into the story of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure were also added to the previously existing Mardi Gras Supply Company scene, found as the train approaches the New Orleans Square station. While the scene has been around for a while, it does get updates every now and then. The large flowers seen here are formerly discarded props from the opening day “Disney’s Eureka: A California Parade” from Disney California Adventure in 2001.
