During “The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular” on December 1, the name was announced for the Disney Villains show coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The show, which replaces Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, will be called Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.
Disney Villains Show Name Revealed
Disney Parks Blog said this about the new Disney Villains show:
The creative minds at Disney Live Entertainment will transform Sunset Showcase into the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror. The show will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers, with fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent each breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.
The new Disney Villains show was announced in September 2024, right on the heels of Disney revealing plans for a Disney Villains land for Magic Kingdom at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. This new show is scheduled to premiere next summer. Initial permits were filed in October 2024. Disney posted a casting call looking for actors to portray Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent a month later.
The most recently-released concept art features the Sunset Showcase stage surrounded by framed “portraits” (likely screens) with a large ornate frame above at the center of the proscenium — most likely for the Magic Mirror, who is featured in previous art.
Over the years, Sunset Showcase has also been used as the home of Club Villain, a ticketed event where guests could join Dr. Facilier from “The Princess and the Frog” and other Disney Villains for a soiree with a DJ, a Potions Bar, New Orleans fare, and dancing. Club Villain made its debut in 2016, running from January to March before closing. It made one last return for the Halloween season in 2017, and closed for good on October 31 of that year.
