Some sections remain behind scrim and scaffolding.

As you climb up the stairs, you can see directly into the construction area, where refurbishment is still underway. From what we could tell, this is mostly for repainting.

We noticed that most of the work done to the walk-through attraction involved painting, as seen here on this banister.

The Swiss Family Treehouse closed for a short refurbishment in mid-November 2024. Disney had previously stated that it would reopen on December 20, but the attraction failed to meet that reopening date, and was still covered in scrim and scaffolding.

In the enchanting outdoor scene reminiscent of the Magic Kingdom, a small pond sits surrounded by rocks and greenery, with colorful flags fluttering above. Nearby, a wooden structure evokes the charm of an adventure at the Swiss Family Treehouse, where water containers stand ready for exploration.

Disney quietly delayed the closure for a few more days, rescheduling the reopening until today, Monday, December 23. As there is still work being done in the area, it may be a few more days before the attraction is completely reopened to guests.

The Swiss Family Treehouse is a self-guided walk-through attraction located in Adventureland. It is based on the classic film “Swiss Family Robinson” from 1960, which itself is based on the novel “The Swiss Family Robinson,” published in 1812 by Johann David Wyss.

The treehouse that guests experience is meant to be the same one built by the Robinson family while they were stranded on a deserted island. Each room is filled with the characters’ belongings and 19th-century artifacts. In total, guests will climb 116 stairs to explore the entire treehouse.
