Shanghai Disney Resort and Walt Disney Imagineering shared construction photos of the resort’s new hotel, officially revealing the basic structure is complete.
Shanghai Disney Resort Hotel Construction
In an Instagram post, Imagineering wrote, “The major structure of @shanghaidisneyresort’s third themed hotel is complete and the interior development phase is now underway! We’re one step closer to a magical multi-day resort experience with more Disney-themed accommodations!” The post includes a photo of crew members looking on as a beam is placed atop the hotel structure.
The structure’s framework appeared complete a few weeks ago. Now concrete blocks have enclosed most of the center of the building. A porte-cochere juts out from the front of the hotel. The other side faces Wishing Star Lake and the Shanghai Disneyland theme park.
The building’s front entrance features an archway that currently frames Enchanted Storybook Castle. Presumably, windows in the final hotel will maintain this view. The next steps for the exterior will include encasing the rest of the building and adding themed elements.
Above is the concept art of the third hotel, which will have Art Nouveau-inspired architecture paying homage to Shanghai’s early 20th-century architectural legacy. The hotel’s groundbreaking ceremony was on August 31, 2023. It will be the smallest of Shanghai Disney Resort’s three hotels with just 400 rooms. The other two hotels are the 420-room Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and the 795-room Toy Story Hotel. Shanghai Disney Resort has not announced a name for the new hotel yet.
