Disney has filed a new permit with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) for the development of a 10-acre contractor lot at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney Files Permit for Contractor Lot
According to WDWMagic, the new contractor lot will be an infrastructure project that will aid in the ongoing construction of the new Tropical Americas land replacing DinoLand U.S.A.
The permit shows an infrastructure to be developed in an area located between Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Western Way.
The project will include contractor parking, sidewalks, stormwater treatment systems, and drainage collection and conveyance systems. This new contractor lot will support construction crews with the necessary facilities they’ll need while working on the expansion project.
Disney broke ground for the new land on January 17, 2025, following the closure of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama in DinoLand U.S.A.
The Tropical Americas land will replace all of DinoLand U.S.A. once completed. Most of the space will be transformed into the fictional town of Pueblo Esperanza. There will be multiple new offerings in the land including a brand-new attraction inspired by the movie “Encanto.” DINOSAUR will also be reimagined into an Indiana Jones-themed attraction, featuring a new storyline.
Both attractions are scheduled to open in 2027. Check out our most recent construction update for the Tropical Americas expansion.
