Disney Files Permit for Repainting Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Guitar Before Muppet Reimagining

Disney has filed a permit to repaint the guitar at the entrance of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Guitar Repainting

A large red guitar sculpture with "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith" written on it stands at an outdoor plaza with palm trees and people nearby.

The Notice of Commencement contracts painting company Harrison Contracting Co. Inc. While most Disney permits list vague construction work, this one plainly states it’s for “Rock n Roller Coaster Guitar Repaint” with the description stating “Contractor shall sand, apply one coat of primer, and two coats HP finish.”

Animated characters joyfully ride a vibrant, psychedelic car in a colorful, dynamic scene reminiscent of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, with musical instruments and bright lights creating an exhilarating experience.

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be reimagined into a Muppets coaster featuring the Electric Mayhem sometime after Muppet*Vision 3D permanently closes this summer. A closing timeframe hasn’t been announced but it’s possible this guitar repaint is step one of the work. The guitar could retain its classic red and white color scheme or get a funky fresh new look more fitting of the Electric Mayhem. The giant instrument was last repainted during a 2021 refurbishment.

The reimagined ride will see Kermit and Miss Piggy team up with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem “for a rockin’ music festival.” The Muppets will also take over Rock Around the Shop.
