Today, Disney has officially announced the concert recording will be released publicly on Disney+ on February 7, 2025.
“The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl” was a live event that originally took place in May of 2024. The concert was in honor of the 30th anniversary of the original Lion King animated film. Sarah Hicks conducted a performance of Hans Zimmer’s score, including “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight,” alongside a 70-person orchestra. In addition, the concert featured a troupe of dancers, real costumes from the Broadway production, and projection mapping.

The event also featured appearances by Lebo M, who was the vocalist for the original song “The Circle of Life,” as well as Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, and Jason Weaver from the original animated voice cast. Performers from other Lion King projects were also in attendance, including Billy Eichner from the 2019 “Lion King” remake, Heather Headley from the original cast of “The Lion King” on Broadway, and Bradley Gibson from the 1997 Broadway production. Jennifer Hudson also made a special appearance to sing her version of “The Circle of Life” and more.
At the time of the concert, Disney announced that it was being recorded, and streaming details would be revealed at a later date.
