All pathways through Pandora – The World of Avatar have reopened following a refresh of the land’s glowing floor paint. The project might not be complete, however.
Pandora Bioluminescent Pavement Painting
The “bioluminiscent” pavement of Pandora – The World of Avatar has to be repainted frequently due to foot traffic rubbing it away. Though not visible during the day, the paint glows at night. The latest repainting project began last month.
After crews finished repainting an area close to the Pandora attractions, a central set of pathways including bridges was blocked off. These have now reopened, revealing the fresh paint and allowing guests to once again traverse the unique nature of Pandora.

The pavement of Pandora is designed to look like natural paths, instead of concrete. There are carved plant veins, green moss, and blue splotches across the ground.
These pathways curve around water features and rockwork. Fake plants are mixed in with real Earth life to make the fictional “Avatar” planet come to life.
Though no pathways are currently blocked off, there are still sections of pavement that could use new paint. In our photo above, the pavement that was recently refreshed stands out next to pavement that has not been repainted. Recent rain might have also affected the ongoing work.
We also noticed a temporary, rolling sign in Pandora – The World of Avatar. It points to the two attractions — Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey — as well as the Windtraders gift shop and Satu’li Canteen. The sign may be in place so when more pathways are blocked off, guests can still easily find the land’s venues.
