Walt Disney World filed a permit for construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom ride DINOSAUR, which will soon permanently close to become an Indiana Jones attraction.
DINOSAUR Construction Permit
The Notice of Commencement is for “General construction” at 501 Restaurantosaurus Rd, Bay Lake, 3283. Though the road is named after the nearby Restaurantosaurus, the address is for the DINOSAUR attraction.
Disney is contracting Ferran Services & Contracting Inc. for the construction. Ferran does heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical work.
DINOSAUR is not set to close until 2026. The permit expires on March 18, 2026, but given the contractor, this is likely only basic work on and around the building to get ready for major construction beginning next year.
DINOSAUR will be reimagined into a brand new Indiana Jones ride. The attraction already uses the same ride system and similar track to Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, but it will have a new story to go along with the Tropical Americas land replacing DinoLand U.S.A. Indy and guests will explore an ancient Mayan temple, investigating stories of a mythical creature.
Tropical Americas will also include an “Encanto” ride and a carousel. It will open in 2027.

DINOSAUR opened with Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 22, 1998 as Countdown to Extinction. Two years later, its intensity was slightly scaled back, and it was renamed to coincide with the release of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film “Dinosaur.” The ride and film are only loosely connected by the character of Aladar the Iguanodon.
