Disneyland Paris teamed up with Doritos to create new Doritos Loaded snacks coming soon to Frontierland.
Doritos Coming to Disneyland Paris
Overland Trail Cafe, near the entrance to Big Thunder Mountain, will offer a selection of snacks in partnership with Doritos beginning on March 20, 2025.
The Doritos Loaded offer includes three crunchy recipes developed by Disneyland Paris chefs in collaboration with Doritos, “combining indulgent toppings and bold flavors,” a press release states.
With the new Doritos offerings comes a new character: the owner of Overland Trail Cafe, a stagecoach mail carrier with a “fiery nature and a curious mind.” According to the new backstory, during one of the owner’s trips, she met a gold prospector who shared with her his meal of crispy, triangular corn chips. She stocked up on the chips, but they got mixed up with the goods she was carrying. Though initially disappointed, she then realized that the combination of flavors was tasty and began selling the creations in Thunder Mesa (the fictional town of Frontierland in Disneyland Paris).
The character is based on real-life people like Mary Fields, Annie Oakley, and Calamity Jane, as well as the female heroines of 19th-century dime novels.
Disneyland Paris teams added elements to the exterior and interior of Overland Trail Cafe to support the story and include Doritos branding. The billboard outside Overland Trail Cafe now features a map of the owner’s travels and a dime novel cover about her adventures. Inside, there are photos of the owner with various Thunder Mesa residents, including Ol’ Klondike, the gold prospector who introduced her to Doritos.
We took great care in weaving our new character’s story into the rich mythology of Frontierland. As a larger-than-life trailblazer, she fits right into the colourful cast of characters who inhabit Thunder Mesa. As always, it was a true joy collaborating with the many talented artisans, craftspeople, and experts of all kinds who work behind the scenes at Disneyland Paris.

Our team at PepsiCo Design & Innovation collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineering Paris to create a bold new female character: the owner of Overland Trail Cafe.
We gave her a captivating narrative as a stagecoach driver that seamlessly fits into Frontierland’s Western Time Era, establishing the Overland Trail Cafe as the trading post for the legendary Doritos Loaded at Disneyland Paris. Guests will see our design influence as the adventurous culinary story unfolds at the Overland Trail Cafe.

The collaboration between Doritos and Disney makes sense, as the chips were invented at the original Disneyland in the early 1960s.
Back in 1955, Casa de Fritos opened in Frontierland at Disneyland just a month after the rest of the park. Sponsored by Fritos, the restaurant (now Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante) served original Fritos creations and Tex-Mex dishes. Everything at the restaurant other than Fritos was provided by Alex Foods and in the 1960s, an Alex Foods salesman noticed the restaurant was throwing out unused tortillas. He suggested instead cutting them into triangles and deep frying them like Mexican totopos. The cook did so, and the new chips, dubbed Doritos, were a hit. (via Walt’s Disneyland)
