The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger ignored the previously-announced Figment movie in answering a question about the character, but teased a possible Figment series.
Figment Movie or Series?
During the Annual Shareholders Meeting on Thursday, March 20, Iger was asked about the popularity of Figment and a possible Figment movie: “Would the company consider using Figment in other parts of the business, such as creating a film based on the character?”
Iger joked that he’s been asked about Figment 15 times at shareholder meetings over the years. Strangely, he did not directly address the Figment film announced in 2022. The film was in development from Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures with Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (“Pokémon Detective Pikachu”) attached as writers.
Iger said that, due to the popularity of “good old Figment” at EPCOT and with shareholders, he was going to ask Disney’s creative teams to consider making a series or short term videos featuring the character.
I’ve been asked this so many times that I am going to ask our creative teams to consider making some form of series or short-form videos of Figment. Obviously, he’s more popular than just a walkaround character in our parks and resorts.

This suggests the Figment film is canceled but Disney isn’t giving up on turning the character into a star.
The little purple dragon was first introduced as part of the Journey Into Imagination ride at EPCOT in 1983, alongside his creator, Dreamfinder. Though the ride has seen significant changes over the years and no longer features Dreamfinder, Figment endures. Disney added a Figment meet and greet in 2023. That same year, Figment visited Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering. As an unofficial mascot of EPCOT, he’s frequently featured on festival merchandise.
