Teaser Trailer Released for ‘Freakier Friday’
“Freakier Friday” is the sequel to the film “Freaky Friday” which premiered twenty-two years ago. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan will both be reprising their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman.
The sequel takes place years later after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) go through their “identity crisis.” In the sequel, Anna has a daughter as well as a soon-to-be step-daughter. The film sees the characters navigate different challenges that arise as the two families merge and they discover that “lightning might indeed strike twice.”
Other stars of the film include Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Vanessa Bayer, and Mark Harmon.

The title of the “Freaky Friday” sequel was first announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August 2024. The sequel was originally confirmed in March 2024 with production for the film beginning last June.
The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra. Andrew Gunn, the “Freaky Friday” film’s producer, has returned for the sequel alongside Kristin Burr.
The 2003 film was the third adaption of a novel written by Mary Rodgers in 1972. The first adaptation was also produced by Disney with the same title, “Freaky Friday,” and released in 1976.
In the 2003 film, Curtis plays Tess, an uptight psychiatrist, and Lohan fills the role of her daughter Anna. The two switch bodies, with the help of magical fortune cookies, after arguing in a Chinese restaurant. They are forced to see life from each other’s perspective which causes them to forge a closer bond.
The film will be released in theaters on August 8.
