Demolition has begun on “It’s Tough to Be a Bug,” the original Tree of Life show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that permanently closed on Sunday, March 16.
“It’s Though to Be a Bug” Demolition
The attraction’s entrance structure is gone. The standby entrance used to be on the left, while Lightning Lane was on the right.
The Lightning Lane tapstiles remain, wrapped in green tarps. The Lightning Lane podium is also still there.
There is nothing on the podium for guests to mess with, but it looks like someone left their ticket.

For comparison, above is what the entrance used to look like, including the attraction’s sign.
The entrance pathway remains open, so guests can still enjoy the sights around the Tree of Life, including its animal carvings.
No more stanchions are splitting the line.
There are construction walls closer to the theater entrance, blocking the way.
The walls are only up in the pathway, so it’s easier to see around them.
There are already signs of demolition and construction, including tree branches on the ground.
Another set of construction walls connects to green scrim.
Some black poles were visible behind these walls.
The construction walls are decorated with PPG Paints-branded signs featuring quotes. This one is a quote by Walt Disney himself:
What I have learned from the animal world…is a renewed sense of kinship with the Earth and all its inhabitants.

It will be replaced by “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!,” which is set to open this winter.
