A new YouTube video, “Get Ready for Universal Epic Universe & Beyond” shared by Universal Orlando Resort highlights Epic Universe which opens May 22, 2025.

Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, commented “We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic.”

According to Irwin, new attractions are slated for each of the parks at Universal Orlando Resort including Epic Universe.

Epic Universe reportedly has expansion plots set aside for each of the themed worlds within, and possibly even for additional worlds.

Epic Universe will contain four worlds set around a central hub called Celestial Park. The four worlds include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe. Each world will have attractions, entertainment, shopping, and dining.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster in universal studios Florida

Several projects are expected to begin soon at the existing parks, with Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closing in the fall for demolition and replacement. Sources told us the coaster manufacturer, Intamin, would create the new ride replacing Rip Ride Rockit.

There is also a rumor that Universal is actively developing a replacement for Marvel Super Hero Island. Sources indicate that the Universal Creative team is developing plans to create a Pokémon-themed land. Universal Studios Japan closed their version of The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man with rumors of a Pokémon re-theme, so it’s possible that Universal could consider this transformation for the Universal Studios Florida attraction as well.

The Simpsons Ride is also rumored to possibly close in the near future. When Disney purchased 20th Century Fox they acquired “The Simpsons” although Universal said the deal would “have no impact on our ride or our guest experience.” Universal’s contract to use “The Simpsons” is reported to last 20 years meaning it could end in 2028.
