Big Al has arrived as a plush-style carving around the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree seating area in Disneyland Park.

Big Al is sitting atop trash cans in the area. His appearance, although carved from wood, has soft features similar to a plushie. He is wearing his typical hat and vest.

He is holding a sign which states, “Food Scraps Only: This bin is for feedin’ critters!” This sign guides guests to throw away only food scraps and not the trays and plates that are reused at the restaurant.

The plush style of the carving continues around the back with the texture of his fur and stitching along his limbs.
Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree reimagines the former Hungry Bear Restaurant with the Country Bear Jamboree serving as inspiration, and it reopened in October of 2024 after a refurbishment. As the story goes, the menu for the new restaurant features “regional barbecue dishes the Country Bears discovered while on tour.” You can check out the full menu with prices here.
We have also reviewed all the new menu items at the reimagined quick-service location.
The Country Bear Jamboree operated at Disneyland for nearly 40 years, opening on March 4, 1972, and closing on September 9, 2001. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh replaced it. A Big Al statue was also installed at Disney California Adventure in 2024.
