Disney Drops Trailer for ‘A Goofy Movie’ Documentary

Just in time for the 30th anniversary of “A Goofy Movie,” Disney dropped a trailer for “Not Just a Goof,” a retrospective documentary about the making of the film.

“Not Just a Goof”

Child watching a cartoon of anthropomorphic dogs on TV, with text: "Not Just 'A Goofy Movie,'" now available on Disney+, releasing on April 7.

“Not Just a Goof” is coming to Disney+ on April 7, 2025, 30 years to the day after “A Goofy Movie” was released in theaters. It “follows a young creative team tackling their first Disney feature!”

The documentary is directed by Eric Kimelton and Christopher Ninness. It features interviews with “A Goofy Movie” director Kevin Lima, producer Dan Rounds, writer Brian Pimental, editor Gregory Perler, character designer Bruce Smith, soundtrack producer David Z, Max voice actor Jason Marsden, Goofy voice actor Bill Farmer, and more.

Though it became a beloved cult classic, “A Goofy Movie” was not a big hit for Disney when it was released in theaters. It grossed just $37.6 million worldwide on a budget of only $18 million.
