Entrance

As with most of the attractions in Super Nintendo World, the entrance for Yoshi’s Adventure is shaped like a yellow Warp Pipe.

The pathway leading to the indoor queue is yellow with an image of a spotted Yoshi egg. Likewise, the “O” in “Yoshi’s Adventure” has also been replaced with a bright green and white egg on the attraction’s main sign.

The sign on the right of the entrance has the usual attraction warnings and wait time. While Yoshi’s Adventure has a few of the usual attraction warnings, the ride is very slow and probably one of the least intense rides in Epic Universe.

Fans who have seen Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan will already be quite familiar with Yoshi’s Adventure, though the attraction was not added to the Universal Studios Hollywood version of the land. The attraction is largely the same as the Japan version, with only some slight differences in the layout of the queue.
Test Seat

A blue rectangular test seat is placed around the left corner of the attraction’s entrance. While the test seat is not shaped exactly like the official Yoshi ride vehicle, the size and lap bar are the same. The red plastic seat has a hard armrest in the middle to separate each passenger, similar to the restraints in Japan. In the middle of the lap bar is a white panel with three Yoshi eggs, which are used during the ride.
Queue

The queue for Yoshi’s Adventure has a different layout but a very similar aesthetic to the Universal Studios Japan attraction. Since this ride is based on the Yoshi games, it has a slightly softer feel and a more pastel color palette than other areas of the Mushroom Kingdom. When entering the attraction, guests pass by fenced garden with eggs, lanterns, maps, and pickaxes.

The walls are painted to look like a grassy forest with orange shrubs and bright green trees. Several of the corners around the queue have been painted to look like green Warp Pipes.

As part of the queue, guests pass by an open door leading into a tree house. The interior of the room is a digital screen showing Toadette.

Toadette waves at guests and asks if they will help her explore Mount Beanpole to look for special eggs.

Traveling further into the queue, more of the fenced garden spaces are decorated with trees and cube-shaped presents,

Guests will also spot several baskets of brightly colored fruits known as Yoshi Fruit. In the games, Yoshi can eat the fruit, and it often yield a random power-up item.

While the gardens help to separate large sections of the queue, there are also a few switchbacks separated by wood-colored stanchions and tan ropes.

More baskets of Yoshi Fruits are placed at the base of the trees, perhaps where they were recently harvested.

A corner about halfway through the queue has a red water fountain set off to the right side. This fountain can be used to get a quick sip of water or refill a tumbler.

One wall in the queue has a glowing Egg Block within guest reach. Similar to the other interactive blocks in the land, guests can reach underneath and hit the block. When hit, the block will emit a short sound and the lights coming from within the block will flash.

One of the final turns in the queue has a few more Yoshi eggs, presents, and a folded map. A Winged Cloud, also known as a Question Mark Cloud, is floating across the sky in the distance.

This last map is actually left open and reveals a little more detail about the story of the attraction. Captain Toad and Toadette are searching for three differently-colored Yoshi eggs, taking guests on a path outlined by the red lines on the map.

While we did not need to use it, the queue does have another hallway with a longer extended waiting area. This hallway is a bit simpler with only painted walls and minimal decorations, but it is fully indoors and remains cool.
Reaching the actual loading area requires guests to climb stairs to the second floor of the building. An elevator is also located nearby for guests to use in place of the stairs. This setup is the same as the Japan version of the attraction, though this staircase is more curved and hidden around a tree trunk here.
Ride Experience

The ride begins when guests reach the upper floor, where they are directed to grab a seat in one of the constantly-moving Yoshi ride vehicles. Yoshi comes in different colors, including green, yellow, purple, pink, red, and more.

For the ride story, guests are supposed to be helping locate the hidden Yoshi Eggs. When guests spot one of the three eggs in the attraction, they are supposed to press the corresponding button on their lap bar. Guests who find all three eggs during the attraction will get points added to their Power-Up Band.

The ride is basically a slow-moving tour across the second story of the Mushroom Kingdom. You can see many of the detailed moving sets from a much better angle than from on the ground.

The ride begins by taking guests directly across from Peach’s Castle. The rest of Epic Universe is blocked by painted green hills, so the land feels very self-enclosed.

Guests can look across the hills of Super Nintendo World and see more of the spinning coins and moving characters.

Only the upper spire of the Super Nintendo World portal is visible above the painted hills, so it doesn’t break the theming. Though the size of the portal does somewhat ruin the effect of the forced perspective in this section.

Yoshi’s Adventure moves extremely slowly, allowing guests plenty of time to take in the detailed sets and facades.

Moving over a section painted like a wooden bridge, guests enter a desert-inspired area marked by a pyramid on the queue map.

On the left side, a red-shelled Koopa Paratroopa is moving up and down.

A tall Conkdor wearing pink sunglasses is seated on the right side of the vehicles.

The Conkdor periodically moves its head up and down, as though it is going to peck at guests’ heads.

Just behind the Conkdor is the first of the three Yoshi eggs. Guests should press the matching green button on their lap bar if they want to get the achievement reward.

At this point, guests enter another green Warp Pipe and go through the only indoor section of Yoshi’s Adventure. A small pipe on the right shows Starship Mario, a combination planet and spacecraft used to travel the galaxy in “Super Mario Galaxy 2.”

Following the pipe, the attraction’s main showroom has several moving characters similar to an animated store window. Yoshi runs with Baby Mario on his back, and both Yoshi’s head and arms move.

In the background, some Fly Guys and Kamek rotate in the sky. The areas is painted to look like it is nighttime, so the scene is colored black and blue with some glowing lights in the houses. The blue Yoshi egg is also hidden in this scene.

Also on the left side of the vehicles, a pink Yoshi carries Baby Peach, who is holding a small pink umbrella.

While most of the action in the showroom takes place on the left side, placed on the right side of the room’s exit is a figure of Poochy.

Exiting the room, the rest of the attraction takes place outside. A Pokey moves back and forth in front of the final red Yoshi egg.

This area returns to the desert theming from the beginning of the ride, with plants shaped like cacti and sand on the ground.

The desert slowly transitions to a more tropical jungle setting, with more green shrubs and palm trees.

Some of the Yoshi Fruits seen in the attraction’s queue are growing on nearby bushes. The tip of Donkey Kong Country can also be seen through the trees, though only for a brief second.

In this tropical area, several Baby Yoshi are playing. In “New Super Mario Bros. U,” the magenta-colored Balloon Baby Yoshi was used as a means of floating to a higher area during a level.

Meanwhile, the white orb in front of this Baby Yoshi is supposed to be a bubble that can trap enemies.

On top of a taller platform, two more Baby Yoshi are fighting over a single fruit.

One Baby Yoshi is a lighter shade of blue, while the other is a golden yellow color.

One more Baby Yoshi is seen inside this rock-covered opening. This figure’s head moves as guests pass by.

A figure of Captain Toad leaning against one more Yoshi egg signals that guests are nearing the end of the attraction.

Captain Toad is waving at guests, though this figure is static and does not actually wave. Captain Toad is wearing his adventurer outfit with a large yellow headlamp.

On the left side, guests pass under a large Piranha Plant sticking up from a green Warp Pipe. The plant’s head moves forward and back, as though it is debating eating a guest as a quick snack.

A second Piranha Plant is also placed on the left side near the loading area. Like the first plant, its head twists and mouth opens.

The arch leading back into the loading area for the attraction is decorated with large gray Thwomp.

The Thwomp moves up and down as though it will drop into the ride path, though the Thwomp does not actually move that far down. After entering through this arch, guests will be asked to disembark the attraction.
