A limited number of trading pins celebrating the Grand Opening of Shanghai Disney Resort in 2016 have been restocked at Walt Disney World.

Shanghai Disney Resort first opened on June 16, 2016, and several limited merchandise items were released around the world to celebrate. Since the grand opening celebrations concluded, none of this merchandise has been easily available. Recently, however, we found two Disney trading pins celebrating the Shanghai Disney Resort Grand Opening being sold in EPCOT.
The limited release pins were being sold at the House of Good Fortune in the China Pavilion.

A total of two grand opening pins are currently available in the store. One pin with each design was featured in a display case, while the remaining pins for sale were placed on a metal hanger.
Shanghai Disney Resort Grand Opening Bubble Pin – $10.95

The first pin is a round bubble that functions similarly to a snow globe. The semi-transparent confetti inside the bubble will shake across the image of the resort’s Enchanted Storybook Castle. Mickey and Minnie stand on the left side of the bubble, wearing their official outfits from the grand opening celebrations. Yellow text above the bubble says “Grand Opening,” and the Shanghai Disney Resort wordmark is written in both English and Chinese.
The pin comes on a blue backing with another “Grand Opening Shanghai Disney Resort” wordmark. The bottom text labels the pin as a limited release.
Grand Opening Ear Hat Pin – $7.95

The second grand opening pin is shaped like a classic mouse ear hat. The center dome of the hat is black, and both of the ears are gold. The entire pin is covered in matching gemstones, apart from the gold cutout of the Enchanted Storybook Castle in the center. The backing for this pin matches the black color with gray stars. The backing has the same gold “Grand Opening Shanghai Disney Resort” wordmark, and the pin is also a limited release.
Both of these pins were intended as limited releases, so the availability of Shanghai Disney Resort Grand Opening items in EPCOT in 2025 is unusual. It is likely these pins were recently discovered leftover stock, and Cast Members advised that they only have a small quantity, so they may sell out quickly.
