The world’s latest Disney Store has officially opened in Hiroshima, Japan, and we have a full video tour of the new location.
Hiroshima Disney Store Now Open
This newest Disney Store is located in Minamoa, a newly-constructed shopping mall connected to Hiroshima Station. The store is based on the theme of “the magical dream world of Disney,” which is a new concept for the Disney Store locations in Japan. The store is said to include over 2,000 merchandise items.
The store’s decor specifically draws inspiration from “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” section of “Fantasia,” with a statue of Sorcerer Mickey near the front entrance. The main sign and floors use a combination of the white and blue colors similar to Mickey’s sorcerer hat. Several of the merchandise fixtures are also covered in shimmery gold paint.
Additional decor is designed to look like a magical castle with a sunset-colored backdrop. A post by Dana Nishimura Bryan, Director of Retail Creative at Disney, added, “We drew design inspiration from our beloved Disney stories, cloudscapes, castles, the cosmos, and of course: magic.” Her post included a photo of an Ariel cloud mural framed in a gold oval between two merchandise shelves.
Behind the checkout counter is a larger cloud-style mural with the shapes of classic Disney animated characters flying though the sky, including Stitch, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and more.
