VIDEO: Disney Destiny Black Panther Grand Hall Statue Gets Its Finishing Touches

Walt Disney Imagineering shared a sneak peek of the Black Panther statue that will be displayed in the Grand Hall of the Disney Destiny.

Each Disney Cruise Line ship has a character statue that welcomes guests when they step aboard the ship. The Disney Destiny will feature T’Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther, marking the first time that a Marvel character has been displayed as the atrium statue.

Walt Disney Imagineering is putting the finishing touches on the statue of T’Challa. He will stand atop a jut of rock with the feline form of a black panther at his feet. The statue is designed with a textured black finish to set this bronze statue apart.

Purple accents are added to his suit in the tech lines to appear as though the suit is powering up and turning on. Another of the final steps of the statue is adding the silver leafing accents.

The statue will take its place in the “Black Panther”-inspired Grand Hall on the Disney Destiny once it’s fully completed. The pillars in the Grand Hall will feature metalwork inspired by the banned armor and stacked jewelry found in Wakanda.

Imagineers are also in the process of putting the finishing touches on the Spider-Man stern character. This also marks the first time a Marvel character is featured on the stern of a Disney Cruise Line ship.

The Disney Destiny will set out on its maiden voyage this November. Aboard the “heroes and villains”-themed ship, guests will be able to enjoy a Broadway-style production of “Hercules,” encounter Disney and Marvel villains, enjoy sweets from an Enda Mode-themed confectionery, and more.
