A refurbishment has begun on the forecourt stage of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, forcing performances of “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” to pause.
Cinderella Castle Stage Refurbishment
Right now, there aren’t many signs of the refurbishment when approaching Cinderella Castle. There are no construction walls or scrim visible from the nearby guest walkway so far.
Signs next to the stage indicate there are “No Showtimes” today for “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire.” The show is usually performed on the stage several times throughout the day.
To the east side of the Cinderella Castle stage, we noticed some potential work on one of the stage’s technical booths.
The themed blue tarp on top of this castle structure was pulled back, revealing the steel framework underneath. Some unthemed mounted elements are also visible under the roof.
None of the stage’s flooring has been removed, but there are signs of wear and tear. The grid of black tape acts as markers for the performers.
The last major refurbishment of the Cinderella Castle stage took place last summer. That refurbishment lasted around three weeks and involved completely replacing the worn floor of the stage. Because the flooring was replaced last year, this refurbishment might be a shorter, simpler project.
On the Walt Disney World website, no performances of “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” are scheduled through May 18, with regular performances listed again starting on Monday, May 19. However, the refurbishment may be extended further depending on the extent of the work.
