Prior to the beginning of the Disneyland 70th Celebration, the resort has debuted two new Family Adventure Maps featuring cute illustrations of park icons and a guide to family-friendly attractions.

Unlike the more traditional paper maps used to navigate the parks at Disneyland Resort, the new Family Adventure Maps are designed in a more cartoon style. While labels for the various attractions in the parks are still included, the map includes a guide to the family-friendliness of each attraction as well as an added seek-and-find element.
Disneyland Park Family Adventure Map

The map for Disneyland Park is blue with cartoon art on the front showing children in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The logo for the 70th anniversary is added to the bottom of the map, and the art of the castle includes the 70th anniversary decor as well. The back of the map says “Welcome, Friends!” and has a paragraph describing some of the attractions in the park written in the style of a loosely-rhyming children’s poem.

The first interior flap has a list of all the attractions in Disneyland Park, broken down into sections by land. The attractions are placed into a chart with symbols representing the family-friendly nature of each attraction. For example, the chart includes occasional or consistent elements for whether the attraction is dark, scary, fast, wet, high, and more. The chart also has a column for applicable height requirements.

The left side of the map’s interior has a similar chart ranking the availability of kid-favorite foods by dining location. This chart includes items such as burgers, pizza, chicken tenders, mac & cheese, sandwiches, and more.

In the middle of the fold, a section on the left has a seek-and-find challenge for guests to locates some characters and park icons in the nearby map art. This section also has a legend with icons for bathrooms, tables, parade routes, popcorn carts, and other locations.

The map is far busier than the standard navigation map. This cartoon art focuses less on navigation and more on the general area of attractions, with each represented by a colorful character icon. The interior has more of the Disneyland 70th logos.
Disney California Family Adventure Map

The Family Adventure Map for Disney California Adventure uses a similar cartoon art style, with children standing in front of the Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris wheel. Interestingly, the art depicts the wheel with a Mickey icon instead of the more modern Pixar-themed Luxo ball.

The back of this map also has poem-style rhyming text referencing attractions and entertainment at Disney California Adventure.

In the same fashion as the Disneyland Park map, the one for California Adventure has a chart listing the possible factors effecting children at all of the park’s attractions and a second chart with more kid-favorite foods.

The seek-and-find icons as well as the map legend are located on the right side of the center fold. The icons to locate include Bruni, Luxo Jr., Flounder, WALL-E, Sadness, Groot, and more.

The map art still has the park broken into its appropriate lands with numbers for each attraction. However, the focus is less on the navigation paths and more on the general feeling of each land.
Both of these maps are now available at the front of their respective parks in Disneyland Resort. The Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration officially begins on May 16, though many of the new activities, entertainment, and merchandise items have been previewed early.
