Now that Universal Epic Universe has officially opened to guests, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment has received a few additional props in its first preshow.

Epic Universe celebrated its official grand opening on May 22. While the park had already been through several stages of previews, a few of the attractions received additional updates ahead of the actual opening date. One of these attractions was Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment in Dark Universe.

People watch an animatronic character as new props glow in a dark, theater-like Epic Universe room with red curtains.

This attraction has two preshow rooms, one of which brings guests into a space where they meet a screen-based version of Ygor. The room, which is supposed to be a gothic-style hall in Frankenstein Manor, has an in-world example of the attraction’s ride vehicle encased in a glass chamber and surrounded by fake candles.

If you want to see more of the attraction’s massive queue in detail, we have a full photo tour article.

Since posting our original tour of the queue, this preshow room has now been updated with new props. The first major change is the addition of human mannequins to the example ride vehicle, matching the mannequins shown in the ride safety videos shown just before the load area.

The seats in the vehicle, which used to be empty, are now filled with three human-sized wooden mannequins. The figures are painted to look like they are wearing colored shirts and carved with neutral facial expressions. They are slung around the glass case as Ygor delivers his chilling warning to the invited “lab rats.”

The mannequin that was previously sitting in the empty seat lies on the base of the display (not pictured), as though it “fell out.”

Additional details have also been added to the candles surrounding the exterior of the glass chamber. Hidden between several of the fake candles are small wooden dolls painted like the classic monsters featured during the ride. The first doll close to the front is painted like the Wolf Man, with pointed teeth and wolf-style ears.

One of the Brides of Dracula is seen with her arms raised outward. She wears a painted-on white dress and has pointed vampire teeth.

On the left side are wooden dolls for the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Mummy. The Creature is green with ridges for his scales along his arms and face, while the mummy is painted with white stripes to represent his wrappings.

One more doll is appropriately themed to Dracula. The doll is standing on top of a candle and leaning against the wall on the back left side. Dracula is wearing his black and red ensemble as seen during the Monsters Unchained ride.
