“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” soft opened on May 26 before its official opening on May 27. The new show replaces “Voyage of The Little Mermaid” in Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The show opens with “Daughters of Triton,” which wasn’t part of “Voyage of The Little Mermaid.” The number features Ariel’s sisters.

Featured songs also include the classics “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”

“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” still uses the glow-in-the-dark puppet technique famously featured in “Voyage of The Little Mermaid” but has brand new puppets.

“Kiss the Girl” is another song from “The Little Mermaid” that was absent from the old stage show. It now has a full scene in “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” including more puppets.

Ursula appears as an on-stage puppet as well as digitally on the background screen, thanks to motion capture. Triton is also brought to life with motion capture.

The climactic final battle is played out on stage in a longer sequence. In the previous show, it was only shown via quick clips on screen.
“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will be available via Lightning Lane Multi Pass starting on May 27. The show is performed continuously from 9:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. It’s approximately 18 minutes long.
