REVIEW: Uh-Oa! Skipper’s Adventure Mug Releases with Two New Drinks and a Misprint at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto

The Skipper’s Adventure mug has debuted at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto — or has it?

Skipper’s Adventure Mug – $75

Comes with choice of Pair-a-dox Punch or DeNile of Libations

The box is the same shade of blue as the new colorway for the Skipper’s Adventure (which was previously released at Disneyland Resort in green), and features some of the same art. It’s designed to look like a little crate. The bottom of the box notes that this mug was manufactured exclusively for Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. So far, so good.

Uh-oa! Our first sign of troubled waters is the top of the box, which reads “Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar.” That’s the one at Disneyland Resort.

The ceramic mug is a blue ombré reminiscent of water (the backside or frontside! It’s blue-tiful either way).

The light blue from the top of the mug fills the interior.

A hand holds a Trader Sam's Grog Grotto Skipper's Adventure Mug labeled "Disney" and "Made in China" with a barcode sticker.

Nothing suspicious about that sticker placement.

And there it is, folks. Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. Did the mugs wash ashore on the wrong coast? No; Cast Members confirmed this is, indeed, a misprint. It’s available for today only as a courtesy since it was initially advertised as available now.

Cast Members are taking contact information for guests who would like to be among the first to know when the correctly printed mug arrives.

Pair-a-dox Punch

Ford’s Gin, grapefruit and lime juices, coconut cream, passion fruit, mint, and bitters

This drink is really gin forward, and our reporter today is not a huge fan of gin. Therefore, we were not a huge fan of the cocktail. The coconut cream and citrus juice does cut the gin a little bit, but this would’ve been way better with rum instead of gin. Also, usually when you want a tiki drink, you want that to be rum based. It’s drinkable, but as far as tiki drinks go, this is not making the list of our top choices. We did appreciate that it is not sweet, but unless you’re a huge fan of gin, you’re probably not going to enjoy this.

DeNile of Libations

Lyre’s Pink London Non-Alcoholic Spirit, grapefruit and lime juices, coconut cream, and passion fruit

Please note that this drink is zero-proof, not non-alcoholic, so you must still be 21 or older to order it.

This is the far better choice. It’s light and refreshing. The lime and grapefruit juice mixed together the coconut cream ties everything together really well with just a hint creaminess and sweetness. Whether you like alcohol or not, we think you’d be pretty happy with this. It was great in the heat.
