REVIEW: New Battle of Hoth Macaroon with Chocolate AT-AT and More at Backlot Express for May the 4th

The Wookiee Cookie has returned to Backlot Express alongside new items for the 2025 May the 4th celebration.

NEW Chosen One Cooler – $27.00

Sweet-and-sour citrus limeade served with a Skywalker lightsaber swizzle stick (We opted to get the alcoholic version with Patrón Silver Tequila.)

A hand holds a blue iced drink with a toy lightsaber stirrer in a clear cup, with greenery in the background.

This tastes exactly like a solid margarita.  There is a slight lime flavor, and it is heavy on the tequila. This is a perfect drink for summer. We were surprised it was not overly sweet, and while not life-changing, this is a decent offering from a quick service location. It’s expensive but it does include the glowing Skywalker Lightsaber Swizzle Stick.

The Chosen One Cooler can be purchased without alcohol for $14.79 and is available at ABC Commissary, Fairfax Fare, PizzeRizzo, and Rosie’s All-American Café in addition to the Backlot Express.

NEW Sith Lord Libation – $27.00

Cherry limeade served with a Darth Vader lightsaber swizzle stick (We opted to get the alcoholic version with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Burbon.)

A hand holds a pink iced drink in a clear cup with a lightsaber-shaped straw, outdoors near green leafy plants.

This was great, especially for a quick service drink. It was heavy on the bourbon pour, and it mixes beautifully with the cherry limeade. You get the cherry on the front and it finishes with the smoky bourbon taste for a fantastic beverage.

The Sith Lord Libation can also be purchased without alcohol for $14.79 and is available at ABC Commissary, Fairfax Fare, PizzeRizzo, and Rosie’s All-American Café in addition to the Backlot Express.

NEW Battle of Hoth Macaroon – $6.49

Toasted coconut macaroon on a cookie decorated with buttercream, shredded coconut, and white chocolate

This is a giant plate of very dry shredded coconut. So, unless you want to eat a bunch of coconut, skip this. The AT-AT is white chocolate and tastes fine. The cookie underneath has a bit of a chocolate note to it but is also super dry. The inside of the macaroon is made of a very dry chocolate cake. We only give it a 2 for being cute.

Wookiee Cookie – $6.29

Two oatmeal cookies with vanilla cream filling garnished with a milk chocolate sash on top

The Wookiee Cookie is massive and comes topped with a familiar Chewbacca-themed chocolate piece. Inside, it’s stuffed with soft vanilla frosting. The cookies in the sandwich are especially doughy, with a light frosting that probably could use a hint of more sweetness. A bit of cinnamon or some other kind of spice would’ve gone a long way here, since the cookies taste of plain oatmeal. The only good bites here are with the chocolate piece, which doesn’t even stay on as you eat it.
