A new collection of apparel and merchandise celebrating the 45th anniversary of “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” is now available at Disneyland Resort for May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day.
We found all of the new items at the Star Wars Trading Post in the Downtown Disney District, though a few were also available at World of Disney.
The Empire Strikes Back Adult Jacket – $74.99
This varsity-style jacket for adults features an image of classic poster art for “The Empire Strikes Back” with Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine above a fleet of TIE Fighters and a Star Destroyer. The cuffs and neck all have black elastic with white stripes.
The back of the jacket has yellow text that matches the original opening crawl for the film on a starry black background.
Minnie Ear Headband – $34.99
The next item is a new Minnie ear headband covered with black pleather with a gray felt interior.
The left ear has more of the Darth Vader poster art from the jacket. The left ear has art of Han Solo kissing Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker riding on his Tauntaun.
The center bow is made of a pale gray, semi-transparent fabric. The middle of the bow has a gold charm that says “The Empire Strikes Back 45” with the silhouette of Darth Vader. This “45” logo will be on many other items in this collection.
Adult Gray Shirt – $34.99
The first of a few adult shirts is a gray color with comic-style art showing scenes from “The Empire Strikes Back.” The frames include Luke battling Vader, Luke training with Yoda, and a large AT-At. The top has a yellow Star Wars wordmark, and the bottom has the same rectangular “45” logo in yellow and black.
Adult Black Shirt – $34.99
The second adult shirt only has a single scene printed in a rectangular frame. This art shows the same scene of Luke battling Darth Vader as the gray shirt.
The Empire Strikes Back Mug – $27.99
This light gray mug has a handle made to look like clouds and several icons from the film. The right side by the handle shows a large At-At with Luke’s snowspeeder flying overhead.
Some of the additional icons include Luke kneeling in his padded Hoth gear and the full “The Empire Strikes Back” film wordmark.
Tauntaun Hat – $29.99
This baseball cap is styled like the head of Luke’s Tauntaun. The front has printed lines representing the Tauntain’s eyes, snout, and nose. It’s horns and ears are added in plush form on the top.
A curved tan horn made of plush material is attached on either side of the hat, just below the ears. The back is a breathable gray mesh fabric.
Long Sleeve Shirt – $59.99
Continuing the theme of using classic poster art, this long-sleeved black shirt has a scene showing Luke ,Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando standing alongside some planets and vehicles from “The Empire Strikes Back.” The film’s wordmark is printed in white toward the bottom.
Youth Gray Shirt – $29.99
There is also a youth version of the same gray adult shirt with the comic-style scene frames. The back of the youth shirt has the yellow crawler text like the jacket.
The Empire Strikes Back Pin – $19.99
A more colorful version of “The Empire Strikes Back 45” logo also comes in pin form. This pin has the rectangle in silver instead of gold with a red border and black text. Darth Vader is embossed in a matching shade of black. The pin backing is unique with the film’s wordmark in gold and two crossed lightsabers.
Boba Fett Pin – $22.99
This second pin for “The Empire Strikes Back” shows Boba Fett standing in the middle of Cloud City. A silver version of Han Solo when he is frozen in Carbonite is floating nearby. Han’s body sticks up slightly from the base of the pin.
Princess Leia Hoth Doll – $149.99
This new collector doll comes in a special “The Empire Strikes Back” white box. Inside, the doll is Princess Leia wearing her padded outfit from Hoth in shades of white and tan. She is standing alongside a small version of R2-D2.
Baseball Cap – $29.99
This darker gray baseball cap has a full-color version of the “45” logo that also includes some of the art from the poster. Darth Vader is prominently shown above the other characters on a blue background. The patch and logo text are all stitched in gold thread.
Disneyland Resort has several other collections of Star Wars merchandise for May the 4th, including a 20th anniversary Revenge of the Sith collection and May the 4th dated apparel.
