In an Instagram video, D’Amaro said, “This will be our seventh Disney destination around the world. And this is all part of turbo-charging our business. This park and resort will be unlike anything we’ve done before. You can see we’ve got a beautiful waterfront to play with. The possibilities in this next theme park are endless. So exciting. Our Imagineers, they are already hard at work, and I’ll tell you what: I’m gonna have a lot more to share with you soon.”
D’Amaro’s comments reflect his quote from a press release:
This groundbreaking resort destination represents a new frontier in theme park development. Our resort in Abu Dhabi will be the most advanced and interactive destination in our portfolio. The location of our park is incredibly unique — anchored by a beautiful waterfront — which will allow us to tell our stories in completely new ways. This project will reach guests in a whole new part of the world, welcoming more families to experience Disney than ever before. Ultimately, it will be a celebration of what’s possible when creativity and progress come together.

Disney announced the Abu Dhabi theme park before their Wednesday Q1 FY25 earnings call, in which they reported $23.6 billion in revenue and a 13% increase in domestic Disney Parks income. The new park will be constructed and operated by Miral, but Disney will oversee creative development.
CEO Bob Iger said it will be Disney’s “most technologically advanced theme park” with their “first modern castle,” as shown in concept art. Iger explained why Disney chose Abu Dhabi, saying, “Of all the places that we could choose from, there did not seem to be any place that is better than this.”
