Collage of Disneyland scenes: Paint the Night Poster and Magic Key Holders at a 70th Anniversary Photo Ops backdrop.

70th Anniversary Photo Ops & Paint the Night Poster Arrive for Magic Key Holders at Disneyland Resort

As part of a limited time event honoring the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland Resort, several photo ops have been added to the Hyperion Theater Courtyard at Disney California Adventure. This is also where Magic Key Holders can pick up their complimentary Paint the Night poster.

Orange Disneyland sign for Magic Key Holders reads "Join Virtual Queue" with QR code and event details near stairs and greenery.

The Magic Key holder event, including both the photo ops and the free souvenir poster, began on May 27 and runs through June 2, 2025. The times include:

  • Monday to Friday – 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In order to participate in this event, Magic Key holders must have a current pass and join a virtual queue in the Disneyland app. Guests with either a Disney California Adventure or Disneyland Park reservation will have the opportunity to join the 7 a.m. virtual queue. There is a limit of one virtual queue entry and one poster per holder.

A themed photo spot for Magic Key Holders features a faux stone jail, a dog with keys, and sunny-day 70th Anniversary Photo Ops.

The first photo op is themed to Pirates of the Caribbean. The location is specifically designed to look like the jail scene, where guests can stand behind the metal bars and call out to the dog holding the keys.

People pose by a whimsical mural at Disneyland Resort’s 70th Anniversary; Magic Key Holders gather under stage lights.

The second photo op is themed to “Alice in Wonderland.” The photo spot has guests stand behind the cutout of a pink and yellow teacup as they appear to float down the rabbit hole towards Wonderland.

People stand near a red carpet and a Magic Key Holders backdrop at Disney California Adventure.

One final photo op is a flat wall with color blocks in red, yellow, and blue, and either the Disneyland Resort or Magic Key logos are written on each block.

The Hyperion Theater Courtyard also holds a special themed photo booth with complimentary prints. The booth appears to be a standard size and color, but the front screen has the Magic Key logo. Mickey and Minnie are pictured in their 70th anniversary costumes. The text below says, “We’re so glad you’re here, Magic Key holder!”

Magic Key Holders are also invited to pick up a special Paint the Night keepsake in honor of Disneyland Resort’s 70th Anniversary Celebration. Hayden Evans created the print. Magic Key Holders can pick up their prints at the exit of the event, and once they have left, they will not be let back into the area.

When we visited, all of the photo ops had wait times of 30 minutes to an hour, along with an additional 30-minute wait for the actual photos.

Missing the Magic Key Event? There are still plenty of Magic Key offerings lasting throughout the 70th celebration. First revealed on the Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account, the resort is now selling a new Magic Key Insulated Cooler Bag along with Magic Key-specific merchandise, including a Magic Key-exclusive Lug bag and Magic Key pin, as well as an ear hat, ear headband, and Spirit Jersey.

Disneyland Resort is celebrating its 70th anniversary from May 16 through the summer of 2026.
