In a recent update from Disney, a closing timeframe has officially been announced for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and its Muppets replacement at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Transformation
As previously announced by Disney, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is set to officially close for its transformation into a new Muppets coaster starring featuring the Electric Mayhem. Disney released a poster for the new attraction when it was first announced last year, but no closing timeframe was included with the news.
This will mark the first-ever Disney ride to feature The Muppets. As featured on the poster, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be teaming up with “some of music’s biggest stars” — Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem — “for a rockin’ music festival.” The members of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem —Floyd Pepper, Janice, Lips, Animal, and Zoot— are depicted on the main poster for the ride. It’s possible that other Muppets could be represented in the pre-show or ride experience as well.
According to a new Disney press release, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is now officially set to close in 2026 for its upcoming transformation. The release did not include a specific month or day yet, but mentioned that the rethemed version of the coaster starring the Muppets is also set to open sometime by the end of 2026.

As previously mentioned, the post does confirm that guests will still have plenty of time to enjoy the current version of the attraction before it closes for its reimagining. The Walt Disney World website has not yet been updated with this new information.
No further details for this retheme have been shared, though Disney has said that The Muppets will also take over the Rock Around the Shop merchandise location currently attached to the coaster’s show building.
This news comes on the last day of operation for MuppetVision 3D, which is set to perform for the final time on June 7, 2025. Stay tuned for our complete coverage of the attraction’s final day.
