REVIEW: Hades Ice Cream Float and Maleficent Cone at Hollywood Scoops for ‘Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After’

To celebrate the arrival of our favorite baddies in the all-new “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” show at Hollywood Studios, the park has rolled out some devilishly cool treats inspired by the villains themselves.

These new treats can be found at Hollywood Scoops.

Hades Ice Cream Float- $8.99

Blue Raspberry Slush and Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Blue Curacao Syrup, Boba Pearls, and Blue Cotton Candy

A blue slush drink with orange boba and cotton candy, like the Hades Ice Cream Float, held outside with greenery behind.

The Hades float is a sinfully good dessert that pays homage to the God of the Underworld from “Hercules.” The vanilla bean ice cream is very high-quality and has a rich, creamy texture that mixes well with the syrup. The boba balls pop and burst with tangy sweetness, adding an unexpected but welcome layer of texture and flavor. To top it off, the float is garnished with blue cotton candy “flames.”

We like the Hades Float for the summer because it’s served in a cup, ensuring maximum enjoyment without the sticky, melty mess that you might experience when having a cone.

Though it may be a bit pricey, the Hades Ice Cream Float is a must-try for any villain fan due to its flavors and playful presentation.

Maleficent Cone- $8.49

Butter Pecan Ice Cream topped with Red Sugar & Chocolate Horns, served in a Lavender Waffle Cone dipped in Green Sugar

Maleficent Cone: Ice cream in a purple cone with chocolate horns, green and red sprinkles, outside Hollywood Scoops.

The Maleficent cone is a very cute and well-executed themed treat. The cone itself has a subtle lavender flavor that pairs perfectly with the butter pecan ice cream. The ice cream itself is very refreshing, and its taste is not overpowered by the lavender cone. You won’t taste a lot of the floral flavor of the cone until you get down to the bottom.

The chocolate horns are a nice touch, and while the green sugar doesn’t contribute much in terms of flavor, it does provide an interesting contrast in texture.

Again, our only real critique would be the price, which seems a bit high. But for a special treat, the Maleficent cone is worth the splurge.

Overall, these villainous confections are two refreshing and well-crafted treats from Hollywood Scoops. They may be a bit high in price, but they are nice nods to “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.

A new Cruella De Vil-themed ice cream sundae is also available exclusively for Annual Passholders. Check out our video of the new show below, as well as Tom’s Honest Review.
