Anaheim Roads Blocked by Protesters Near Disneyland

Several guests have shared videos and photos taken last night, June 20, that show several sections of Anaheim roads located near Disneyland Resort blocked by protesters and police, causing some significant traffic delays. The roads in question were S Harbor Boulevard and W Katella Avenue. Katella Ave runs east to west across the southern half of Disneyland Resort, close to Disney California Adventure, while Harbor Blvd runs north to south on the eastern side.

According to some videos and photos shared by local news anchor Austin Castro on X, the roads were closed at approximately 9 p.m. Pacific Time. The closures were due to a group of anti-ICE protesters, who were seen walking in front of traffic and waving flags on both streets. Shortly after the initial reports, videos were shared of a large police presence in the area. Police officers were seen directing traffic, and a few social media posts also reported sightings of a police helicopter in the skies.
Castro later shared a second post with images of police officers lined up to block Harbor Blvd and Katella Ave from all traffic.

Approximately an hour after the initial news, user Matt Desmond on X reported that Harbor Boulevard had been reopened to usual traffic. The protesters were reportedly also denied access to Disneyland Resort property, though it remains unclear if the original plan for the protest was to head towards Disneyland or just stay in the surrounding area. As a result, all of the Disneyland Resort parks and locations were unaffected, apart from the additional traffic congestion in the surrounding city.
There have been no more reports of issues with traffic or protests as of the morning of June 21, though stay tuned to WDWNT for the latest updates.
