Sword Removed From the Stone for Refurbishment at Magic Kingdom

The Sword in the Stone is currently missing from the stone at Magic Kingdom, presumably for a refurbishment.

The Sword in the Stone is located on a dais between Cinderella Castle and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Usually available for photo ops — and King of England hopefuls — the Sword in the Stone was blocked by ropes on Wednesday, June 11.

A blue tarp was draped over the anvil that the sword sticks out of. The sword itself was still in place, its handle sticking out of the tarp.

As of Thursday, June 12, the sword is gone, leaving a hole in the tarp and anvil.

A blue tarp covers an object with a rectangular opening in the top, near a stone wall and pink flowers.

Though Disney has not made an announcement and Cast Members had no information, it would appear the sword was removed for maintenance.

Or, perhaps, King Arthur made a visit to Magic Kingdom.

Below is what the Sword in the Stone usually looks like.
