UPDATE: Pizza Moon Now Offering To-Go Boxes & Allowing Food to Leave Restaurant

In a recent policy change at Pizza Moon in Epic Universe, guests are now able to receive a to-go box and take their leftover pizza outside the restaurant, with certain restrictions.

Pizza Moon is a counter-service dining location found in the Celestial Park area of Epic Universe. As we previously reported earlier this month, guests at Pizza Moon were surprised to be told of a restaurant-specific policy that did not allow them to get to-go boxes or take their leftover pizza slices outside the establishment, essentially making it “dine-in only.”

Pizza Moon has previously offered some general boxes to take leftover food, but even they have not been readily available since at least June 17. The restaurant’s menu was also somewhat limited during this period, so it only included a few of the more unique flavors that were present during our original review.

As of June 26, Pizza Moon is offering themed to-go boxes to guests eating at the restaurant.

The box is a standard large pizza size and made with white cardboard. The top lid has the Pizza Moon logo printed in the center of a green and red checkered frame. The logo for Pizza Moon, which includes a yellow moon with a slice of pizza in its eye, is based on the image from the 1902 silent film “Le Voyage dans la Lune.”

The rest of the box is a standard to-go pizza box, with white on the sides and plain cardboard for the interior.

However, it is important to note that Team Members are still only giving out to-go boxes under specific circumstances. As told to our reporter, guests must be dining inside the restaurant to request a to-go box in person. Guests must have also eaten at least one slice from each pizza being taken away in order for that pizza to count as “leftovers.”

In other words, guests are still not allowed to order a whole pizza to take back to their resort in a box without eating at least one slice. Likewise, the one-slice rule applies to each pizza ordered, so a guest cannot order two pizzas and only eat slices from one of them. Our reporter did leave Epic Universe with the pizza box, so guests are allowed to bring them outside the park.

As one other policy note, our reporter went to the back oven area to request a to-go box. At the time, the Team Member working that area did ask why we needed a box, but did not specifically check how many slices we were taking. It appears the enforcement of the various leftover policies is up to the individual Team Member.
