New Orleans Jazz Band in Magic Kingdom

The latest entertainment offering in Magic Kingdom is a New Orleans-inspired band that plays upbeat jazz music. The band is reportedly called Nola and the Eighth Notes. The band consists of Nola, who is the lead singer, and four musicians playing a tuba, trumpet, trombone, and snare drum with a tambourine.

Nola is likely a reference to the acronym NOLA, which stands for New Orleans, Louisiana. The band finished their set to the side of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, in the area close to the currently-closed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad entrance, though they originated on the side of Frontierland by Grizzly Hall. The members of the band play music as they walk, sometimes stopping to interact with guests and dance.

The band members are wearing new costumes in the classic Mardi Gras colors of purple, bright yellow, and green. The musicians are all wearing black pants and white hats, while the lead singer’s outfit has a multicolored diamond pattern.

The band’s set when we visited lasted for approximately 13 minutes. Several of the songs included jazzy renditions of music from “The Princess and the Frog” as well as the nearby Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Attraction.
Nola and the Eighth Notes is a new entertainment offering in Magic Kingdom, but the band is not currently listed on the website entertainment schedule or the My Disney Experience App. The currently-scheduled times, according to a Cast Member, include 10:45 a.m., 12 p.m., 1:05 p.m., and 1:55 p.m. If you happen to be in the park, we recommend asking a Cast Member for the most recent information on performance times for the day.
Cast Members also told us that the current plan for the band is for them to perform almost daily in Magic Kingdom through September, but they noted this is still vague and could change at any time. Check back with WDWNT for more updates.
