Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we now have an early look at some of the construction work on the upcoming “Monsters, Inc.” Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

As previously reported, the Miss Piggy Lady Liberty fountain had been removed from Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as the space is being transformed into Monstropolis.

Now, the bricks that previously made up a majority of the Muppets Courtyard Plaza walkway have been removed. It looks as though Disney is attempting to remove the brickwork to ensure the pavement isn’t damaged, as this area of the new land will maintain many of the same architectural details in the new land.

While the upper level of the new land will remain similar to Muppets Courtyard, the lower level is potentially undergoing substantial changes, according to the concept art below. The Stage 1 Company Store, a.k.a. the former Muppets store, is expected to be completely demolished to add a larger walkway and garden area leading to the new “Monsters, Inc.” door coaster.

In these aerial photos, the lower level has begun to see some substantial work to the walkway in front of the former Stage 1 Company Store. It appears that the stairs and much of the area in front of the store have already been completely removed.

The size and scope of the Monsters, Inc. door coaster ride building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was recently revealed in a map from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. In this shot from biorecunstruct, we can see a rough outline of where the build will be located in the former Cast Member parking lot. Crews have begun to remove some of the pavement surrounding the proposed location.

Guests will enter the ride through a Monsters, Inc. headquarters facade at the back of the former Muppets Courtyard, which closed permanently in early June. All the roller-coaster-related facilities will be brand new to the space, but several other Muppets Courtyard/Grand Avenue structures will be reused for the new Monsters, Inc. land.
