Some recent aerial photos have shared an updated look at Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which will soon be transformed into Monstropolis from Monsters, Inc.
Demolition Begins on Muppets Courtyard

A new series of aerial photos have been shared on X by @bioreconstruct. The images show the area of Muppets Courtyard, the former home of MuppetVision 3D in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since our last update on June 28, more visible demolition has begun.

Some of the brick and concrete walkways have already been torn up, including a large section close to the Gonzo’s Royal Flush restrooms. Another large area has already been torn up closer to the entrance of PizzeRizzo, with dirt underneath the former walkway clearly visible. The marquee for MuppetVision 3D appears to still be intact, though the statue of Miss Piggy dressed as Lady Liberty from the central fountain was already gone during our last update.

Additional pictures share the state of the land clearing project behind Muppets Courtyard. This area, which used to be a Cast Member parking lot, is set to be included as part of the Monstropolis reimagining.

A giant, square-shaped area in the center of the parking lot is now covered with dirt, though some former parking spots are still visible around the sides.

While not explicitly confirmed by Disney yet, this area is expected to be used for an extended show or ride building for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. door coaster attraction, as seen in a new map from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. It will be Disney’s first vertical lift coaster and first suspended coaster.
